Progress
Report |
|
|
|
Grades will continually be posted in the Grade
Book section of the Bb site. Students can monitor their grades throughout the
semester. By
the end of the sixth week of the semester, you will have an opportunity to
evaluate your progress in this course and decide if you need to make any
adjustments (additional study, tutoring, conference with instructor) to
assure your success in this course. |
|
Notes: |
|
|
|
1. Within each week, you will be working in a self-paced environment in
which you set the pace for reading and practicing the assigned chapters and
completing the assignments by their due dates. You are advised to use your
time wisely and efficiently in order to set your work speed, to make
decisions and to set priorities in order to meet the weekly chapter,
assignment and quiz deadlines. 2. You must have access to Excel
2010 (either at home, work, or make time available
to use computer lab). This class and book are geared for Excel 2010 using WINDOWS.
There are many differences in Excel in the PC and MAC environments. If you are using a MAC, it is your
responsibility to investigate and resolve any software differences between
the book and MAC’s version of Excel. 3. Later in the semester, this class will be integrating Excel
spreadsheets with Access, Word and PowerPoint. It is your responsibility to
have access to Office 2010 at home/work or use the computers in FCC’s
computer labs. 4. It is your responsibility to locate the assignments and due dates from
the Bb site and adhere to the schedule. You may hand in assignments late;
however, points will be deducted. Chapter assignments will NOT be accepted
after the business running case for that chapter has been graded. 5.
Student data files are on
the student CD that accompanies the book or can be downloaded from the text's
Web site. There is a link to the text's Web site in Course Documents folder
inBb and the link is also listed in the text.Read the directions on
downloading files BEFORE you attempt to download the data files. 6.
In
order to fully understand the concepts introduced in each chapter, to
successfully complete the required projects at the end of the chapter, and to
receive the best possible grade in this course, all chapter step-by-step
exercises (Projects A and B) must be completed. These exercises must be
submitted as part of the hands-on assignment grade. FYI: In the past, students were unsuccessful
in this course if they did not read the required chapters and complete the
exercises within the chapters. 7. All assignments will be saved as directed in the book. Make sure you
save your files with your last name and your first name as the first part of
the file name. e.g. Boyne_Susan_Financial_Services.xlsx 8. You are welcomed (and encouraged) to send your assignments to me as
soon as you finish them (as opposed to waiting until the due date). I can
then provide immediate feedback and grading, which may help in completing
remaining assignments. 9.
Some graded assignments
will be completed using Excel 2010 and submitted via Bb's Assignment folder;
other assignments will be completed using the web site: myitlab.com. It is the student’s responsibility to check
Bb for the directions for all assignments. 10. Quizzes: Online theory quizzes must be taken each week. Quizzes are
only available in the Assessments folder of Bb during the assigned timeframe.
Quizzes will expire and will no longer be accessible after the due date. 11. Computer problems or failure to connect to the Internet to access
Bb/e-mail will not excuse you from completing the course requirements by the
due dates. FCC’s computer labs are available during posted hours. 12. Please notify the
instructor immediately of any change in phone number(s), e-mail address, or
any other means of contact**. Also make these
changes in Bb. 13. If you have any questions or concerns, please notify the instructor by
e-mail or phone. |
|
At Frederick
Community College, in all credit courses, students are expected to invest a
minimum of two hours completing out-of-class course work for every hour of
in-class instructional time. For example, in a 3-credit course, students
experience at least 37.5 hours of instructional time and should invest a
minimum of 75 hours in out-of-class time preparing for the course and
completing assignments. In a traditional 15-week, 3-credit course, this
equates to an average minimum of 5 hours per week. For online and hybrid courses, students can
expect active instructional time and “out-of-class” course work comparable to
face-to-face courses with the same number of credits. |
