Students are required to participate in this class through Bb

|
With the exception of MOL students, all FCC students will receive and
are expected to use their FCC email address for correspondence with faculty
and staff at the college. Students can establish and access their FCC email

addresses of other students in this course only for the purpose and the
duration of this course. The instructor can be expected to respond to regular student e-mail

Work in this course is subject to the provisions
of the FCC Code of Academic Honesty. Plagiarism in any form will not be
tolerated. As a student, it is your job to practice academic honesty at ALL
times. Make sure that all sources, particularly
Internet sources, get proper credit for quotations, paraphrases, and
ideas. More information about this and
the Student Conduct Code are available at

Progress Report: |
|
|
|
|
|
Grades will be posted in the grade book section
of the blackboard site weekly.
Students can monitor their progress/grades throughout the semester via
the Blackboard grade book. At the end of the sixth week, students will be
notified by the instructor if they have a grade lower than a C. You will have an opportunity to evaluate
your progress in this course and decide if you need to make any adjustments
(additional study, tutoring, conference with instructor) to assure your
success in this course. |
|
|
|
Notes: |
|
|
|
1.
Within each week, you will be working in a self-paced environment in which
you set the pace for reading and practicing the assigned tutorials and
completing the assignments by their due dates. You are advised to use your time wisely and
efficiently in order to set your work speed, to make decisions and to set
priorities in order to meet the weekly tutorial, assignment and quiz
deadlines. 2.
You
must have access to MS Office 2010 (either at
home, work, or make time to use FCC’s computer labs). This class
and book are geared for Office 2010
using WINDOWS 7. There are many
differences in the software in the PC and MAC environments. If you are using a MAC, it is your
responsibility to investigate and resolve any software differences between
the book and MAC’s version of Office. ALSO there are MAJOR
changes in Office 2010, and you will not be able to following the directions
in the book if you use earlier versions of MS Office!!!!! 3.
It is your
responsibility to locate the assignments and due dates from the Bb site and adhere
to the schedule. You may hand in
assignments late; however, points will be deducted. Chapter assignments will NOT be
accepted after the exam for that chapter has been graded. 4.
Computer
problems or failure to connect to the Internet to access Bb/e-mail will not
excuse you from completing the course requirements by the due dates. The computer lab is available during posted
hours. 5.
Student data files are on the CD
that accompanies the book OR the files can be downloaded from the text's Web
site. There is a link to the text's
Web site in Course Information folder in Bb and the link is also listed in
the text. Read the directions on
downloading files BEFORE you
attempt to download the data files. 6.
In order
to fully understand the concepts introduced in each chapter, to successfully
complete the required assignments at the end of the chapter, and to receive
the best possible grade in this course, all chapter exercises should be
completed. FYI: In the
past, students were unsuccessful in this course if they did not read the
required chapters and complete the step-by-step exercises within the
chapters. 7.
All assignments will be saved as
directed in the book with one modification:
Please include your last and
first names as the first part of the file name. e.g. Boyne_Susan_RockMusic1stQuarterSales.xlsx 8.
You are welcomed (and encouraged) to
send your assignments to me as soon as you finish them (as opposed to waiting
until the due date). I can then provide
immediate feedback and grading, which may help in completing remaining
assignments. 9.
All graded work will be submitted
via Bb's Assignment folder.
Occasionally work will be e-mailed to the instructor as an attachment
at the e-mail address listed in the Instructor Information section of this
syllabus. 10.
Quizzes: Online theory quizzes must be taken each
week. Quizzes are only available in
the Assessments folder of Bb during the assigned timeframe. Quizzes will expire and will no longer be
accessible after the due date. 11.
Please notify the instructor
immediately of any change in phone number(s), e-mail address, or any other
means of contact**. Also make these changes in Bb. 12.
If you have any questions or
concerns, please notify the instructor by e-mail. |
