Course Description:

Core Learning Outcomes:

By the completion of the course students will:

Complete 3-minute timings within the error limits

Use proofreading and editing skills.

Format letters, memos, simple tables, and reports.

Instructional Methods:

  • Keyboarding tutorials
  • Keyboard drills—speed and accuracy
  • Application learning activities
  • Production assignments
  • Speed timings—1, 2, 3-minute exercises

How the Course is Organized:

CIS 103A is not a self-paced course.  Assignments are given each week and the student is expected to complete all the work and submit it by the due date.  Since keyboarding is a skills-based course, late work is not accepted.  Each lesson and exercise builds on skills learned in the previous lesson, therefore, students need to set a work schedule and “stick to it!”
